ROYAL PHUKET MARINA ENTERS THE WORLD STAGE AS AN EVENT DESTINATION
In the short history of Royal Phuket Marina, its most spectacular event to date
entertained no fewer than 450 international guests, including the island’s Governor
and many Thai VIPs. All were entranced by the culmination of Divia Lalvani & Joel
Cadbury’s recent wedding celebration – a superlative event entitled ‘White Magic’ held
on Saturday, April 1, 2006.
Demonstrating RPM’s ability to tailor celebrations to the hosts’ most indulgent desires,
on April 1st, the entire ‘Town Square’ entrance was temporarily sealed off by a giant
white wall inscribed with the newlyweds’ initials.
As Royal Phuket Marina Marketing & Events Manager, Jeanette Skelton stated:
“We’ve been in operation for almost 6 months now and feel confident that we are
firmly established as a highly sought after event venue in Phuket.
We are a cosmopolitan lifestyle community and we certainly know how to throw a
party in cosmopolitan style!” |

To the Very Last Detail…
The White Magic event at Royal Phuket Marina was magnificently
designed, immaculately planned and flawlessly executed.
The grand entrance to Royal Phuket Marina was through a purpose-
built tunnel leading to the ‘Town square’ which was sectioned-off into
numerous areas – from a traditional Indian harram room for the bride,
to a ‘Love Seat’ for the newly-wedded couple.
On one wall was a huge 3 metres X 4 metres pop-art painting of the
bride and groom on which guests were invited to inscribe wedding
messages.
Scattered around were Asian food stations with upwards of 25 chefs
creating a dramatic range of Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai, Japanese,
Indonesian and Chinese dishes made to order.
An extravagant ice sculpture adorned the sushi station, while
champagne and dessert was served at Les Anges, the new boardwalk
patisserie, where guests relaxed along the waterfront with the marina
as a backdrop. |

World-class Entertainment…
Entertainment on stage began with a beautifully choreographed
ballet followed by contemporary dance and then a spectacular
performance by a team of 20 drummers. Afterwards it turned a
little risqué!
Phuket’s famed transsexual ‘showgirls’, one of the most popular
Local nightlife attractions, hilariously presented renditions of
stars from Bonnie Tyler and Mariah Carey to Whitney Houston
and Diana Ross.
The show concluded with a 10-minute firework extravaganza,
followed by dancing to Music Guru’s famed international DJ
Alessandra Nerdrum (Sandra), who regularly performs at top
London clubs, Bouji and China White, as well as the Louis
Vuitton roadshows.
Sandra was supported by popular Phuket spin-master DJ Tuzz –
and the party rocked until dawn!
Minivans operated throughout the evening and into the wee hours
of the morning shuttling guests to and from their hotels. And,
when guests returned to their rooms they were greeted by a
personalised CD including all of the songs played that evening.

A Destination for Prestigious Events
|
This was the third spectacular event, since opening, drawing international guests to Royal Phuket Marina.
Coinciding with their December 2005 opening, RPM’s first coup was hosting the largest and most acclaimed party of
the annual King’s Cup Regatta.
And, on the heels of the April 1st ‘white magic’ extravaganza, Saturday, April 8th, was the first anniversary celebration
of the new Phuket Post weekly newspaper, hosted by RPM and again comprising of over 500 guests.
For the Phuket Post event, entertainment was both novel and breathtaking – from a daredevil climber scaling the
condominium walls to nude art and a ‘flying fox’ through the ‘Town Centre’.
“The marina is here for anyone wishing to host a spectacular occasion on the island -- and we have enormous
flexibility when it comes to presentation, with everything from design and entertainment to food & beverage and
transportation for guests.” Further commented Royal Phuket Marina Marketing & Events Manager, Jeanette Skelton
