Thailand’s Leading Sustainable MarinaSustainability is our key priority

2023 Awards we received at The Best Marina in Phuket, Thailand

The Sustainability Stories

Royal Phuket Marina is constantly seeking methods to reduce its carbon impact and is very proud of its sustainable initiatives. We are continuously exploring ways to reduce our carbon footprint.

We were the first marina in Thailand to switch to renewable energy using the latest in solar technology. In recent years, we have more than tripled our solar-generating capacity for our marina operations and commercial real estate.

Royal Phuket Marina is a signee of the Plastic-Free Marina Pledge by the Marina Industries Association (MIA), and we are the first marina in Thailand to join this important initiative. We were also the first marina in Thailand to install the innovative V5 Seabin to filter (micro-)plastics and floating debris from our marina’s water. We actively communicate our commitment to sustainability to all our partners and seek out partnerships with sustainable organizations and businesses such as Wawa Creations, Oceans 4 All, License To Clean and Disabled Sailing.

We are the only marina in Thailand that holds the highly regarded Yacht Harbour’s Association’s 5 Gold Anchor Certification AND the International Clean Marina award by the Marina Industries Association.

Our Sustainability History

In 2008, The Royal Phuket Marina began its road toward sustainability by improving its 180 Rai/28.8-hectare property’s energy efficiency by installing solar panels, water conservation, and garbage recycling. In addition, by becoming the first marina in Thailand to sign a pledge of becoming single plastic free by 2023.

The RPM sees itself as a platform that supports and promotes innovation and entrepreneurship, leads the push on sustainability, and promotes positive social and economic transformation on the continent. The RPM illustrates how working with communities, protecting the environment, and conducting business with passion and integrity is a better, more productive, and kinder way of doing business by prioritising people and marine life. RPM actively communicates our sustainability.

Wawa Creations: Royal Phuket Marina supports Phuket’s Wawa Creations, a company that creates eco-friendly, innovative, and inclusive boat designs such as the License To Clean coastal cleaners and Phuket’s only sustainable rescue boats.

Solar-powered Seabin V5: Collecting floating debris and micro-plastics from our marina basin, clearing, on average, 48kg of waste per day through this system.
